This will be my eight year at Carlisle, however the last seven have been as a fifth grade classroom teacher. This year I move into a new role as the level III special education teacher. I love my job and feel very lucky to work with such motivated teachers, supportive administration, and involved parents. The small town feel of Carlisle reminds me of growing up in rural Missouri; and my husband and I couldn’t be happier to be raising our two children in such a great community! My oldest, a girl, will be in first grade this year and my youngest, a boy, will start Little Cats preschool in the fall. Needless to say, they keep us very busy!

I have had a diverse teaching career so far. I started out teaching students with special needs on the Southside of Des Moines. I experienced very needy children both academically and behaviorally. That has helped me build a solid foundation to teaching every child that walks through my door. I have a passion for literacy, but also love inquiry and the excitement for math and sciences. I love a challenge and can’t wait to see my student’s walk through my door in the fall.
