My teaching career began as a regular education teacher in Kindergarten, first grade, and third grade for a total of 6 1/2 years.
In the mid 70’s when school districts were required by federal law to serve students with special needs, I completed degree work to become a special education teacher. I was a special education teacher in Russell for one year and in Chariton for 25 years.
After my retirement in 2003, I was a substitute teacher in the Indianola and Carlisle Community School Districts. In January 2005 I returned to full-time teaching to serve special needs students at Carlisle Elementary.
My husband, who is retired, is my biggest supporter, and he sends me off to the Carlisle Elementary Knowledge Factory each school day. My years at Carlisle have been the high-light of my teaching career.
I look forward to helping my students work toward their goals in school so that they may become productive citizens in Carlisle and the surrounding area.
