The Carlisle School Board conducted interviews with three superintendent search firms at a Special School Board meeting on March 7th. The district heard proposals from the following search firms:

• Grundmeyer Leader Search
• McPherson & Jacobson, LLC
• Ray & Associates, Inc

The Board unanimously voted to select Grundmeyer Leader Seach to lead the effort to search for the next superintendent of the district.

The process of selecting the district’s next superintendent will begin this month. Stakeholder input will be collected from various groups, including staff, parents, students, and community members. This input will be collected and used by the search firm to identify the desired qualities for the new superintendent. Grundmeyer Leader Search is confident in meeting the district’s goal of naming the next superintendent during the month of April.

At a Special School Board Meeting on March 8th, the school board appointed Amy Ramsey to fill the Director District 3 vacancy. Ramsey was sworn in at the Special School Board meeting. We would like to welcome our new board member and thank her for standing up and helping to lead our local public schools.

The vacancy has occurred for Director District 3 (Carlisle area - South Side and Danamere Farms). The remaining balance of the term of office for the vacant position will expire November, 2023. The Carlisle School Board approved the 2021-22 Return to School Plan at the July 12, 2021 school board meeting. The operational plans for the 2021-22 school year are based on available guidance from state/local public health experts and Iowa Code. Our goal at Carlisle CSD is to have our students back in our school buildings in the fall while also making sure that we are doing everything we can to protect the health of everyone in our schools.

Carlisle CSD will be offering full on-site instruction for all students in the district’s four buildings for the 2021-22 school year. This plan will be re-evaluated and updated as necessary based on guidance from the Iowa Department of Public Health and Department of Education.

The Carlisle School Board approved Gregory Marshall as the new principal at Carlisle Middle School. Marshall has been in education for 15 years, with the last four years serving as an Associate Principal and School Improvement Leader at Des Moines Lincoln High School. Prior to his time at Lincoln High School, Marshall was an instructional coach and teacher at Des Moines East High School and teacher at Weeks Middle School. Mr. Marshall has a strong background in instruction and in building relationships with students, staff, families, and community members.

Friday, December 10th the district will have an early out schedule. Students will be dismissed at 1:30 and no PM Preschool.

The Carlisle School Board approved the school calendar for the 2020-21 school year at its monthly meeting on March 8th.

The school calendar was developed by the district’s Calendar Committee comprised of parents and district staff. Under the calendar, classes will start August 23 for grades 1-12. Pre-School, Kindergarten & Kindergarten Prep starting on August 30. Kindergarten and Preschool have later start dates to allow teachers to conduct home visit with parents prior to start of the school year.

High School Graduation Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, May 22.

The district will continue with early out dismissals every Wednesday at 1:30 to allow for professional development and planning for teachers and staff.
