Hello and welcome to my page. What's that? You want to know a little more about me? Sure, no worries, where should I start?

 

Academically speaking:

Well, after graduating from Drake University (Summa Cum Laude), I started teaching middle school for DMPS. As a self-contained behavioral instructor I was able to work with some of the most challenging students my building had to offer and I appreciate the experience and opportunities given. After about 4 years I moved into the role of a mild/moderate instructor where I taught 6-8 resource for both math and reading. I was excited for something new, so I left DMPS and moved here, to Carlisle, for the 2019-2020 school year. Currently, I am a resource instructor for English/Language Arts and I am very happy to be here.

 

Dramatically speaking:

I started volunteering at the Des Moines Playhouse in 2005, performing on the Kate Goldman Stage. After deciding to pursue a career in teaching, the playhouse offered me a position as an instructor in their educational department. When I started working for DMPS I developed the theatre program for my middle school as well as other programs for middle schools across the district. Leaving DMPS and the drama program was not an easy thing to do, however, I am very excited about the program that I have started at Carlisle Middle School and appreciate the opportunity to continue this pursuit of the arts and creative learning. Over the years, I have directed countless plays, parodies, and films for young people and have loved every minute of it. It's a lot of work, but when you enjoy what you are doing it's just a whole lot of fun. 

 

Personally speaking:

I am an Iowa native. I have been married for for many years and my son is not so young anymore. My wife, Jacki, works for MetLife and my son dances for a company based out of LA called LADM.  In my free time, I enjoy working on various construction projects for myself and numerous friends. I worked in new construction before I became a teacher. I always have a project for the arts happening, working on current projects or preparing for the next. If I didn't have something creative going on, I would go crazy. I love teaching and working with young people and could not be happier with my place in life.
