Mrs. Carter--Shared Middle School Counselor
I am Jessica Carter. I am a shared school counselor between Carlisle Middle School and Pleasantville 7-12. I will be in Carlisle 2-3 days a week. I grew up in southwest Iowa and attended Simpson College, where I majored in English, and then Drake University, where I earned my Master's Degree in Secondary School Counseling. I have worked in several school districts in 2 states and have served as a teacher/counselor/teacher leader in inner-city, urban, suburban, and rural areas. I began as a high school English teacher in Norwalk in 2001. After earning my counseling degree, I worked at Johnston Middle School as their 8th and 9th grade counselor. My husband and I moved to Ohio from 2008-2015, where I served as a high school English teacher in inner-city Cleveland and then in Lorain, Ohio. We returned to Iowa in 2015, where I worked at AGWSR schools as a high school English teacher and then as a K-8 Success Coach in a teacher leadership (TLC) position. I am excited to be back in the Des Moines area and to serve the communities of Carlisle and Pleasantville!
