ELA with Mrs. Oetken

For the last 8 years, I have been teaching ELA at Carlisle CSD.  From 2015-2018, I taught 8th grade Langauge Arts at Carlisle Middle School and served as the varsity head volleyball coach until 2022.  Currently, I teach Language Arts 9 and 10 and Creative Writing at the high school.  Prior to teaching in the Carlisle school district, I taught 1 year at North High School in Sioux City, IA, and 1 year at Akron-Westfield while serving as the AW head varsity volleyball coach.  I earned a teaching and English degree at Briar Cliff University (2008-2012) and a master's degree at Viterbo University (2016-2018). 

 

My husband and I were born and raised in Northwest Iowa where we both went on to play collegiate sports at Briar Cliff and Morningside University.  We moved to the Des Moines area in 2015 and have been proud supporters of the Wildcat community ever since.  We have two daughters, Ruby (3) and Jeannie (2).  As a family, we love being outside, attending sporting events, and spending time together.
