Mr. Dan Thomas High School Special Education Instructor
This is my 27th year teaching High School Special Education. I have been at Carlisle High School for 17 of those 27 years. Previously I taught at Southeast Warren for 10 years and was head Boys Basketball & Golf Coach and Assistant Softball Coach.
I graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in December of 1993 with a degree in Physical Education K-12, Athletic Coaching K-12, a minor in Health 5-12 and received my Special Education Endorsement from Grandview College in 1999.
I have also coached many sports over the last 25 years at the high school and middle school level including basketball, baseball, softball and golf. I also had the opportunity to coach both of my kids at the little league, park & recreation, IBA and USSSA level. It's an incredible feeling to be able to coach your own kids and see them grow up and have all those memories!
I am a husband and father of a 23 year old daughter who is a recent graduate of NWMSU and a very talented artist. She will be taking her talents to the classroom as a first year elementary art teacher at Mt. Ayr Community School District. I also have a 21 year old son who is senior at Grandview University and is on the ESPORT Team. If you don't find me at CHS you can find me at Scheels, as I have a part-time job in Adult Shoes Department. When I'm not teaching and working at Scheels I enjoy spending with family, bowling & watching sports. I also have a passion for collecting sports memorabilia with many autographs, golf balls, framed pictures and bobble-heads on my wall. In the Fall you can find me at Kinnick Stadium as I'm an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and love watching the Hawks play football and basketball. I'm also a huge Chicago Cubs.
Feel free to email me at [email protected] or call 989-0831 if you ever have any questions. Go Cats!!!
