Aaron Hahn - HS Science
I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of the science team at CHS since 2008, and am currently working with students in chemistry, advanced chemistry, AP chemistry, and computer science principles. I received my education degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 2004 and have previously taught science at Benton High School in Van Horne, IA and Sycamore High School in Sycamore, IL.
My professional career has centered around teaching high school science, but I have had the opportunity to explore a variety of occupations during summer work, and that has helped me gain perspective on what some of the most important characteristics students will need going forward. From this insight, I’ve been driven to ask students to practice calibrating their perception of their learning, through reflection, to the results achieved. Students are asked to practice advocating for themselves based on their satisfaction of results. They are challenged to embrace the often uncomfortable feeling that may be present when learning something new, and let that feeling drive them to solution-focused action. The persistent focus on these characteristics will hopefully help students in a variety of future learning opportunities.
