Mrs. Sievers' Preschool

I grew up in Crystal Lake, Iowa, which is the home of the World's Largest Bullhead.    Crystal Lake is located in north central Iowa in Hancock County.  After graduating from Woden-Crystal Lake High School, I attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa, majoring in early childhood education and minoring in early childhood special education.  Later, I received my master's degree in early childhood education from UNI.

Carlisle has been my "home" since I became a teacher in January 1998.  I was hired as a 1:1 teacher at that time.  In the fall of 1998, the preschool position opened, and I have been there ever since!  I love spending time with my preschoolers!

My family consists of my husband, Darren, who works at Wells Fargo, my daughter, Megan (CHS 2019, now attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD), my daughter, Riley (CHS 2023), and twin deceased sons, Tyson and Dylan.  We live on an acreage west of Highway 65/69 and have a great view of downtown Des Moines.

When I am not at school, I spend a great deal of time watching Riley's sporting events (cross country, basketball, track, and softball).  She plays the trumpet in the band.  She also rides horses.  Go Wildcats!  Megan will be running cross country and track at SDSU.  Go Jacks!  I help with Riley's 4H group (Carlisle Ridge Riders).  Besides being a leader for that group, I am on the board for Dollars For Scholars and the Warren County Saddle Club.  I am also very involved with activities at the Carlisle United Methodist Church (choir member, cherub choir director, women's group, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School director).  In late July, you can find me at the Warren County fair and then later at the state fair watching Riley on her horses.  (I am definitely not a "horse mom", however.)  My other hobbies include taking pictures of my family, scrapbooking our adventures, reading books on my Kindle, listening to music, and flower gardening.

Preschool at Carlisle meets on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday with a morning session (8:10-11:20) and an afternoon session (12:10-3:20).   The program is for children who turn four-years-old prior to September 15 of the current school year.  We are also an integrated preschool classroom for students who have special needs.
