Darin Schreck- Carlisle Wildcat Activities Director

As I plan for the future of athletics and activities at Carlisle Community School, I will challenge myself and my department to create a strategic plan to reinforce the vision and future of Carlisle Athletics and Activities. Over the next year, I will collect data and gather input from personnel within the athletic and activities departments – coaches, administrators, and staff and student-athletes – as well as the larger High School community – faculty, alumni, donors, boosters, and students.
This plan calls for maintaining Carlisle Community School strong academic standards, improving the quality of athletic and activity programs, upgrading facilities and expanding financial support for all our programs.

CARLISLE ATHLETICS/ACTIVITIES
Carlisle Activities Department believes that athletics and school activities are a valuable component of the high school education and, therefore, attempts to provide avenues for all students who want to Participate. We believe: Winning isn't everything, nor is it the only thing. Young athletes cannot possibly learn from winning and losing if they think the only objective is to beat their opponents. However, to play sports without striving to win is to be a dishonest competitor. Every student can experience the true success that comes from trying his or her best to win. The opportunity to strive for success is the right of every young athlete or student involved in our activities. Failure is not the same thing as losing. Students should not view losing as a sign of failure or as a threat to their personal values. Students can learn to persist in the face of obstacles and support each other even when they do not achieve victory. That the highest standards of sportsmanship and fair play will be observed by players, coaches, parents and spectators; both winning and losing in competition will be placed in their proper perspectives. Representing our school is also a way to learn responsibility and to build a positive self-image. For many students involved in our activities, this may be the only arena in which they excel. It provides a feeling of belonging to a special group, a need sometimes fulfilled in far less worthy ways. In accordance with this philosophy of athletics/activities and our desire to see as many students as possible participate in the athletic/activities program at Carlisle, we will encourage coaches and sponsors to keep as many students as they can without compromising the integrity of their program.

This directly aligns with the Carlisle Community Schools Vision and Mission that all students graduate college and career-ready when they leave Carlisle High School. It is the responsibility of parents, teachers, and community to support the PK-12 journey of our students to accomplish our vision and goals.
