On Friday, November 1, we had the opportunity to celebrate Mrs. Brooke Groves as the recipient of the Golden Apple Award . Several of Brooke's students nominated her for the award. Calyn Thompson, Co-anchor of WHO13's Today in Iowa, and Joanna Carson from RE/MAX Precision presented the award during our Academic Letterwinner Assembly on Friday. Below are a few of the comments that were shared by Brooke's students:
Mrs. Groves
deserves the golden apple because she always comes to class with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She goes out of her way to get creative to teach us life lessons. She went to PETCO and got us classroom fish so all of us could learn responsibility, money management, and time management. This is just one thing she does to help us.
Mrs. Groves
deserves the golden apple because she pushes me past the limit of what I think I can do. She goes out of her way to make sure we are taken care of and have everything we need to be successful in school. She relates school to the outside world and how it all connects for us to be successful. She tries so hard for us, and we appreciate her.
Mrs. Groves
deserves the Golden Apple because she cares about us as people. She always asks us about stuff we do outside of school and makes connections with us. She comes to my dance team performances and cheers for me. Mrs. Groves cares about our grades and helps us pass our classes. She went out of her way to send me a stuffed animal and balloons to my hospital room when I got my appendix out.
Mrs. Groves
helps me complete my work. Mrs. Groves always makes class fun while pushing us to be better students
Brooke is a graduate of CHS (Class of 2018) and both her mom (Julie Kruse) and sister (Lauren Kruse) are teachers in our district. Brooke is in her first year of teaching Special Education at CHS. She taught in Norwalk for the past few years.
There is no better time to think about the positive impact this profession allows us to have on our students, and it was pretty awesome to Celebrate the Good this past Friday. Congratulations, Brooke!
